Scouts from Troop 98 and Troop 544 joined together on Saturday, March 1, 2025 for a day of Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST) training. All Scouts that completed the class are now a trained youth leader and can wear the 'Trained' emblem on their Scouts BSA field uniform.
Scouts try their best to live by the 12 points of the Scout Law seven days a week, 365 days a year. But each February, around the time of Scouting America's birthday, we ask our Scouts to pause and pay extra attention to the Scout laws finishing touch: reverent. On Sunday, February 2, 2025 Scouts from Pack 98, Troop 98, and Crew 98 celebrated "Scout Sunday" as part of the 10:00 AM Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Church.
During June 2024, Troop 98 spent a week of summer camp at Camp Olmsted, one of the camps at the National Capital Area Council's Goshen Scout Reservation.
A Scout is Reverent. As part of their observance of "Scout Sunday 2024," on Sunday, February 4, 2024, Scouts and volunteers from Pack 98, Troop 98, and Crew 98 attended Mass at St. Anthony's.
Over the weekend of December 8, 2023, Troop 98 headed out to Antietam Creek Campground, located at Mile 69.4 on the C&O Canal Towpath, a few miles south of Shepherdstown on the Maryland side of the Potomac River.
Troop 98 headed out to the Marsden Tract Group Campground the weekend of November 17, 2024. This campground was built by Scouts to provide access to larger campsites within easy distance of D.C. Located at Mile 11.5 on the C&O Canal Towpath, between the Carderock Recreation Area and Anglers Inn.
Scouts from Pack 98, Troop 98, and Crew 98 -- plus Scouts from Pack and Troop 257 in Cheverly, MD -- were kept very busy as they collected, weighed, sorted, and shelved 5,178 pounds of food for St. Anthony's St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry!
On Sunday, February 5, 2023, Scouts from Pack & Troop 98 gathered at St. Anthony's Church -- the chartering organization for Pack & Troop 98 -- for the annual celebration of "Scout Sunday.
On February 26 and 27, 2022, Troop 98 Life Scout, Henry F. led his Eagle Scout Service Project team in the renovation and expansion of the St. Anthony of Padua Church's emergency food pantry.
On Saturday, October 30, Scouts spent their day in an Introduction to Leadership Skills for Troops (ILST) course. These Scouts invested their day to learn key skills about communication, working w/others and how to be leaders in Troop 98, in Scouting, and in life.
The weekend of October 15 to 17 our Scouts joined Scouts from across the Washington, DC District for our Fall Camporee and all sorts of Scouting fun, competition, and more!
The weekend of September 15 to 17, 2021 Scouts from Troop 98 headed out to Cedarville State Forest for our first full troop campout in nearly two years! We welcomed a LOT of Cub Scout Pack 98 Webelos Scouts as they learned about life as a Scout in Troop as part of their Arrow of Light rank work!
From August 5 to 15, 2021, six Scouts and two adults from Troop 98 made up the crew that went to BSA's Northern Tier High Adventure Base and completed a 101-mile trek that included 55 formal portages (and countless informal ones) amounting to almost 3,000 rods (10 miles) and exposure to some of the most wild canoe wilderness in the lower 48 states.
On 9 Saturday 2021, 13 Scouts and 5 Scouters and adults worked 63 hours with the Franciscan Monastery Garden Guild to remove invasive trees and shrubs from the grounds.
On a very cold December 19, 2020 morning, Troop 98 Scouts and Scouters met up at Rock Creek Park for a day of camping-theme activities, cooking, and rank requirements work! Nine meals and three snacks were prepared and enjoyed!

On 15 February 2020, leaders from Troop 98 and five Pack 98 Arrow of Light scouts (soon to be Troop 98 scouts!) spent a Saturday morning of service organizing the St. Francis de Sales Church's parish food pantry.
In January 2020, Stefan, a Life Rank Scout with Troop 98 led two weekends of work for his Eagle Scout Service Project to build a Zen garden on the grounds of Duke Ellington School.
The last weekend of January 2020, our scouts headed out to Harpers Ferry, WV to participate in the Old Dominion District's Klondike Derby 2020. This is the event organizer's shared photo album.
In October 2019, Troop 98 scouts headed out to Cedarville State Forest in Brandywine, MD to join hundreds of other scouts and scouters from our Washington, D.C. District for our Fall District Camporee.
Over the first two Saturdays in November, scouts from Pack & Troop 98 went out into the neighborhoods to collect donations for our annual "Scouting for Food" service project - and gathered over 1,350 pounds of food for St. Anthony's Bread/St. Vincent de Paul Emergency Food Pantry.
In September 2019, Troop 98 scouts a short backpack trip to Marsden Tract along C & O Canal, logged 10 miles of hiking, and were able to enjoy the Billy Goat Trail.
On Saturday, September 7, 2019 scouts and families from Cub Scout Pack 98 and Scouts BSA Troop 98 gathered to celebrate the end of summer and the beginning of a new scouting year.
During the last week of June and first week of July 2019, scouts and adults headed out to Camp Olmsted at our own Goshen Scout Reservation. Our scouts earned Merit Badges, worked on rank, and had a great week of summer scouting.
